Well, 2013 is under way and we are quite excited to have a steady stream of vintage gear coursing through the ECG veins. The economy must be on the upswing as it seems a lot of folks are “thickening the herd” again and we are really enjoying hooking up cool folks with cool gear. Although it’s difficult to play favorites with so many incredible pieces, here are a few recent standouts.
1957 Gibson ES-125 SOLD
We’ve had a lot of these come and go over the years but this one really stands out as one of the finest examples that has ever graced our shop’s walls. It is a joy to hold and play. Chords sparkle and resonate and the whole thing feels very alive in your hands. It truly is an inspiring instrument. Not to mention it’s plain gorgeous.
1958 Gibson ES-125T SOLD
Another guitar that we’ve found to be truly inspirational is this ES-125T. It is every bit as resonant as the full-bodied ES-125 above, and every bit as difficult to put down. The neck feels fabulous. The p-90 snarls and growls – especially through a small, cranked amp – and sounds very delicate and warm when you back off.
1952 Martin 00-17 SOLD
Another particularly magical new arrival is this 1952 Martin 00-17. This all mahogany, small bodied flat top has some of the biggest tone you’ll ever find in such a compact package. A thick and detailed midrange makes it really project. It also sounds as full and musical from the playing position as it does out front. Pair this up with a classic Martin dreadnaught and you’d have the foundation for a face-melting bluegrass outfit. It’s my guess that this would record really well given its very focused range.
These are just a few of the incredible new arrival standouts. You should drop by or peruse the website to see more great gear. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about a particular piece.
As always, we’d like to thank our loyal customers who continue to allow us to do what we love to do.
