1955 D'Angelico New Yorker

1955 D’Angelico New Yorker. John D’Angelico was one of America’s finest luthiers and produced what many believe to be finest archtops of all time! This beauty is an amazing piece and features a large 18″ body with a fully carved Spruce top and gorgeous carved flamed Maple back and sides. Adorned with the classic “stair step” tailpiece and Grover imperial tuners. This guitar has a wonderfully warm, balanced tone and is incredibly smooth. The neck is a full, but not too chunky C-shape and plays well up the entire fretboard with low action. This one has a unique reversed third fret inlay not seen on other D’Angelicos! Fitted with an old DeArmond pickup, which has a very natural sound and allows the tone of the wood to really shine through. Overall great condition with some checking, play wear and some binding shrinkage, though this one still retains all of its original binding. The original pickguard deteriorated, but a replacement was made salvaging the binding from the original guard. A fine and rare archtop! Includes original brown Lifton hardshell case.
